He didn't steal it.  It had been paid for. That's how free lunch works.  This is no different than if you checked out, and accidentally left an item that was paid for by the register, and you went back and grabbed it.  [/quote]

But it's not a grocery store. The kid isn't a stranger to the lunchline people. He's a student at the school. Why wouldn't the response be to politely ask him what he's doing? Why is the assumption that he is a common thief? Do your children get treated that way when they do something out of order or unexpected at school?[/quote]
