OP here.  I was trying to be balanced and give the cop in this case the benefit of the doubt.  Perhaps I should rephrase that it is possible that he is a good person otherwise, or have good attributes, but if it was found that he took unjust actions in this case, he should be punished.

I'm just trying to counter the notion that there is a huge amount of racist, bad cops among the ranks.  If that's the case, we (PoC) are all screwed.  Instead, I think there are some specific strategies that could be implemented to decrease the likelihood of police brutality/unfair treatment.[/quote]
