This thread on PoPville was amazing. Wealthy couple lays down an astroturf lawn on a prominent corner, proceeds to allow their dogs to constantly crap on it and never pick up the poop. The entire corner stinks and starts attracting rats. They got publicly shamed. The owners then enter the thread and defend themselves. Hilarity ensues. http://www.popville.com/2014/02/ridiculous-and-disgusting-dog-crap/
Hooooooleeeeeeeeeshiiiiiiiit that is nasty. I love how that was clearly weeks and weeks worth of crap and the owner was insistent they don't pick up "every single day." Lady, you don't pick up ever!
It was absolutely disgusting. I frequently passed by this area and saw the poop with my own eyes. The public shaming actually worked - it's no longer a problem.
I mean, I feel for her, 8 months pregnant is tough, public shaming isn't fun, but wow that was nasty.
Wow, the neighbors are lucky the woman didn't heavily lawyer up about their "public shaming" - a very dangerous approach, on the neighbors' part!
I'm pretty sure the owners are lawyers themselves (or at least the "partner" who works 14 hours per day is an attorney). That said, there's no libel or slander here if the neighbors are telling the truth. Which they did - there's documented evidence of tons of poop and that happens to violate the DC health code. Where's the damages for the negligent home owners?
There are many issues at play here.
Such as.....? Enlighten me. I'm trying to understand on what grounds the owners would have for taking legal action against the neighbors or the owner of the PoPville blog. They would get laughed out of court.
Not necessarily. Not if they had a great lawyer who knew what they were doing. If I have to spell out specifics for you - you have never been in that situation - shut it and be grateful. Or you could instead, argue with a stranger on the internet. Have at it. You seem ridiculous.
