Is there a separate application process for the Scholars program?  Once on campus do you take classes only or mostly with other students in the program?  It sounds interesting (and affordable!).  My DD seems to really be interested in UMCP despite the fact that she's not a person who wants a school with big football, greek system etc.  I want her to look at mostly SLACs but I would never want to discourage her from applying to Maryland so I'm interested in hearing more about this option.[/quote]

DD was accepted to scholars. You get 2 years guaranteed housing, live with the other kids in your "college" (can't remember if that's the term for it). DD had to choose which "college" she wanted to join. She ended up going elsewhere, but it seemed like a nice program. She did not apply for it. There's no application, nor is there an application for the Honors College. They just select kids from the applicant pool. [/quote]
