Jeb was governor of FL on the heels of Clinton's presidency (with overlap at the end) at a time when the economy was strong. That made it rather easy for Jeb since FL's economy was in a good position. Not many people understand the impact of some of his policies. After sitting in a full day meeting with folks from FL--including two elected officials (one liberal, one conservative)--I have a better understanding. The mess he made by doing something as monumental as doing away with the state department of labor is shocking. But you wouldn't understand--and why should you? I didn't until it came up in a meeting with FL folks who were stuck picking up the pieces of the clusterf%^*+ he left behind (on many levels). Again, I don't hate him. I think he's better equipped than most of the other yahoos on the slate.
I'm pretty sure any governor's decisions are going to piss off someone and make some kind of mess. I am pretty sure I am tired of all credit or all blame being given to 'previous administrations' (can we retire that?) I love Tony Williams. Does all credit for DCs continued growth go to him? I would say he left a strong hand, but its up to the next guy/gal to manage or mismanage it. He did turn our city around. Does anyone remember how pissed people were by the gentrification? Was Tony William's anti poor people (as was claimed vividly at the time by--I was in meetings too at the time and saw the ration different DC interest groups threw at him) or was he trying to give our city a fighting chance and tax base, so now we can build green low income housing from Sweden as we see in today's Post?
