As the PP said, it was Hillary Clinton's campaign that started the whole birther/Muslim innuendo and she now has the audacity to make a big deal about it. Obama campaign manager David Plouffe accused the Clinton campaign Monday of "shameful offensive fear-mongering" by circulating a photo as an attempted smear. Plouffe was reacting to a banner headline on the Drudge Report saying that aides to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) had e-mailed a photo calling attention to the African roots of Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.). And this is not from a right wing site but the very liberal Daily Kos. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/09/18/1422526/-Hillary-Clinton-s-stunning-hypocrisy-displayed-in-tweet-over-Donald-Trump
Assholes abound in any campaign. Fortunately, that isn't her official position on Muslims and Mexicans.
Did she fire anyone when this happened? I assume she would have made sure that any asshole who spread such vicious rumors would be fired. BTW, I am a liberal and would never support Trump but the sheer phoniness of HRC on this issue is stunning. She is the last person who should get on her high-horse about this issue.
Not so fast. This is what the campaign had to say:
I just want to make it very clear that we were not aware of it, the campaign didn't sanction it and don't know anything about it," Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson told reporters. "None of us have seen the email in question." http://www.theguardian.com/world/2008/feb/25/barackobama.hillaryclinton
The source who claimed to receive said photo from the Clinton campaign was the Drudge Report. Oddly, he did not name the staffer involved. Wonder why.
The very article you linked has the headline: "Clinton aides claim Obama photo wasn't intended as a smear" which pretty much implies someone in the campaign was involved in the smear. There are other references in the linked article that pretty much say the same thing. For example: The Clinton team hit back at the criticism today, saying Obama's team had turned the picture into a row to distract attention from a foreign policy speech she gave today. Maggie Williams, campaign manager for Clinton, played down the significance of the picture. "If Barack Obama's campaign wants to suggest that a photo of him wearing traditional Somali clothing is divisive, they should be ashamed. Hillary Clinton has worn the traditional clothing of countries she has visited and had those photos published widely." It would be a stretch based on these comments to say they did not have a role in this and that it was something the Drudge Report drummed up. What are the odds the MSM would actually ask HRC as to the role of her campaign in starting this whole dismal and disgusting smear even as she pontificates about Trump letting the comment slide?
