This might explain why we (in an Einstein neighborhood) make a comfortable salary and feel like we have much more than we need, and some people in the BCC neighborhoods make the same amount we make and find themselves embarrassed at not being wealthy enough. I think we'll stay here.
Yes. My child had a spot at BCC due to attending RCF and Westland (we live in Silver Spring) and she is really glad to be leaving that cluster and going to a DCC high school. (We have an HHI of $250K a year so we are not exactly poor!) I know other immersion parents whose kids did continue on to BCC and they had a lot to say about the presence of excessive wealth, drugs, social pressure around possessions, etc. There are lots of very nice kids at BCC, to be sure. But the kids I know from DCC schools are great -- well-rounded with lots of interests. I know several kids who go to Einstein and they and their families love it -- the arts opportunities are great, and it's a smaller sized school, too, and not overcrowded. There are plenty of opportunities for advanced and AP classes and interaction with smart and motivated kids. I wouldn't hesitate to send my kid to Einstein!
