The students parents are mow suing for $3 million.
Suing who, the school? Exactly how was this kid damaged? Seriously, it was poor judgment by the teacher and she will pay through criminal sanctions, but the reality is he got the same thing he likely has gotten many times from some underage girls his own age, I do not think he has a damaged self-image from this. And before you ask, I would say the same thing about a 17 year old girl that got into the same situation with a 22 year old teacher under comparable circumstances.
You sound insane. And, would you have the same idiotic opinion if it were your disabled child?
I totally agree with you, although I go further because REGARDLESS of whether a 17 yr old boy (or girl) thinks it's cool to have sexual relations with a teacher and videotape it and show their friends, there is a POWER DYNAMIC implicit in the student/teacher relationship that has to also be considered when deciding what is "consent" or even "pursuit" (by the student) and what is actually an abuse of power. And by the way PP saying you don't see the damage - there is a reason you don't see girls posting video of them servicing or getting serviced by teachers - there are also differences in the gender power dynamics in these equations. Numerous girls have committed suicide for pics or video of them having either consensual, non-consensual (because they were out cold), or straight out sexual assault) sexual contact, because just to state the obvious, there is a wholly different reaction to images of girls circulating than images of boys. Boys get commended and slapped on the back "Way to go!". Girls get called names and have to change schools multiple times before trying to hurt themselves over the vicious reaction. I work in schools and am always shocked by how easily people like first OP here dismiss the responsibility and obligation (both moral and professional) of people in fiduciary positions to not abuse their position (whether by pressuring someone or just taking advantage of their exposure to willing victims) for their own gratification. While it does affect the victim (and yes, I'm going to call minors victims, even 17 yr olds) whether they were game for the contact or not (because it being forced on them is clearly more traumatic), it actually does NOT remove responsibility and liability from the person with authority (teacher, minister/priest, supervisor, cop, doctor, etc) for engaging in a relationship or contact that is explicitly forbidden by their employment/hiring contract/professional practice guidelines. Even if the victim wanted the contact, begged for it, there is a duty to stay in the right lane and not participate. And too often, even if the victims think they were consenting, the person with authority was grooming them and making them think it was the right thing to do. Seen it too many times, dealt with too many broken students (mostly female, but some male too), and seen too many adults get away with a slap on the wrist. Disgusting and much worse, damaging. Even to those who were consenting (from their point of view) at the time or even pursuing. The fall out is often nastier than you can imagine.
