You have insurance that provides for monetary compensation for things you lose.

As anyone who has been robbed will tell you, the insurance money doesn't do anything for your peace of mind.

Not to mention, someone could steal from your home: documents containing personal information, like bank statements, medical records, journals, passports, private letters, etc.  And publish that to the world.  Ditto for online--you don't just use your credit card online.  You send emails to people, for example, and those could be hacked and published.

And no amount of insurance money is going to give you peace of mind when you know that your personal information is completely out of your control.  [/quote]
