This can't be a real post.
Oh shut up. It's totally real. I can't be the only one feeling this way. Just not a "popular" point of view perhaps. But I know I'm not alone. Has anyone filled out the form and had it rejected?
If you don't meet their income requirements, why do you think you would get approved?
I don't think I would, but it doesn't mean I wouldn't. At my child's first school (title one) they begged EVERYONE to fill it out and sent the form home like once a week for the first two months of school and said "even if you don't think you're eligible, they may work something out for you". But we are not at that school anymore, and when we were, I never tried filling the form out.
It is not your kids lunch they cared about or at least it is not the only thing. . At the school we are starting in Sept they say if you make $70K or less you should fill out the form b/c there are other programs that the school may be eligible for based on family income. Your old school, like many others, was just trying to get on recrod how much most familes make so they could get access to any funds for which they are eligible. Can't say I blame them. That said our HHI is aboe that so we aren't going to waste time filling out forms. I made lunch all last year from pre-K. I think the key is not to give the kid more thny he will eat. I pack a ton of things but a small amount of each. 5 or 6 baby carrots, 5 or 6 grapes or watermelon pieces, 3 or 4 crackers or a half a sandwhich, a small amount of meat (turkey or chicken on non sandwhich days). It takes me about 2 min to clean out the old lunch and 5 min to pack the new lunch. Not a big deal.
