The travertine looks dirty to me- with or without the pubes. I think what OP chose is about as classic as you can get. I'm sure some element of it will be dated but it won't be as awful as the builder-grade crap being used now. In our reno, we did Carrara marble hexes on the floor & white subway tiles on the walls.
