And the prior head of school was there from 1978 to 1997.
Not sure what your point is. If you are trying to point out that there was once a longterm head of school at Sidwell, you do realize that 1997 was nearly 20 years ago. I've check several school websites to see their leadership record and have listed facts below. I cannot find any information regarding the timeline Sidwell's Head of school. I may just not be looking in the right place so please direct if it is it there. If it is not on their website, that would make Sidwell the only school in the area to not list this information. A few examples of what consist long term school leadership looks like: 1) Holton Arms - founded in 1901 - has had six heads of school. 2) St. Alban's founded in 1901 has had seven headmasters. The current headmaster is entering his 15th year. The school which was founded in 1909 has had three headmasters serve for 20+ years (the longest tenure being 33 years). 3) Founded in 1933, each of Beauvoir's first four heads of school led for 20+ years. The fifth just began her tenure this past year. 4) Present NCS Head of School began her tenure in 2003, previous hos tenure was from 1989-2003. 5) The current Head of GDS was instated in 2010. All previous GDS head of school tenures have been at minimum fifteen years. I could go on, but suffice it to say that no school in the area (except for WES?) has had leadership turnover even close to Sidwell's recent activity. With that said, it is commonly known that Sidwell has an outstanding faculty many of whom have served the community for decades. Let's hope the new head is able to take control.
