I've never really understood why some seem to take a joy in looking like a hag. I LOVE feeling and looking my very best. Going out with an "eh, it'll do" attitude is weird to me.
They are into other things. Do you fault nuns for going out of the cloister while not looking their very best?
Other things like what? How hard and time consuming is it to look decent? We're not talking about going out like fashion models, but how are folks not embarrassed going out in public looking like hags? At least most men make an effort in public (reserving the messy appearance for the home).
What? I call BS. I've seen plenty of guys who look like crap in public--bad hair, ill-fitting suits, sloppy t-shirts and shorts. It's just that we expect women to do more just to look "decent." Men aren't expected to wear makeup. They aren't expected to have long hair that they style. They aren't expected to wear jewelry. Very few people "take joy" in looking terrible. They might think they look fine. They might not have time to do what it would take for you to think they look decent. They might not have the money to replace clothing frequently, expecially if their weight is in flux (either gaining or losing). They might really just have their minds on other things. Frankly, I don't see tons of people looking terrible. I see most people looking, well, normal. I don't live in the suburbs, and I rarely see women out in yoga pants unless they are carrying a yoga mat, or heading into the gym or something. Some people who clearly care a lot about their appearance might stand out, but it's not like the majority of people that I see look awful. They are wearing clean clothes that match and fit at least decently, their hair has been combed, their personal hygeine seems fine.
