Who knows what stories he has told my stepmom?  I'd like to say my dad is a pathological liar but I actually believe he really believes the stuff he makes up.  My stepmom is no angel, because as you said if she had been one she would never have married my father and from what I can see she also has shallow emotions in other areas not just when it comes to me.
