ALL of the protesters outside of abortion clinics are religious and base their stance on religious belief. ALL of the politicians and activists who want to limit access to birth control and abortion in any healthcare scheme are religious people who base their stance on religion. You're complaining because some atheists have called Christians brain dead. But you act as if Christians don't regularly and "with impunity" insult atheists and others on a constant, regular basis. Perhaps atheists say mean things, but my point is that Christians DO mean things on a regular basis that have real world consequences. I'll take the mean words over the mean actions any day of the week. And check your statistics, most libertarians in political positions are actually Christians (how they reconcile that with worshiping Ayn Rand is beyond me, but so it is).
OP here one last time. Look, I've said this MANY times already, including in my very first post. I agree with you here: there are hypocritical religious people, and there are definitely religious people doing things I don't support (I'm pro-choice and I most certainly oppose the folks in front of the abortion clinics). (And you seem to have a particular axe to grind with Christians, but who cares and I'll let that one go.) BUT, as I pointed out in my original post, there are already a BAZILLION threads about religious hypocrisy on DCUM. If you want to discuss religious hypocrisy, go resurrect (pun!) one of those bazillion other threads. I started this thread to discuss HYPOCRITICAL ATHEISTS. A single thread on that subject, a voice crying in the wilderness, as it were. I used the "religious people are brain dead" example because that happened recently. However, you and your ilk have obliged me on this thread with more insults of religious people, including calling me "drunk" and "a victim" and whatever else. So basically, you're saying you want to HIJACK this thread, LIKE ATHEISTS HAVE HIJACKED ALMOST EVERY OTHER THREAD ON DCUM, for yet another bloody.boring.uncreative.repetitive rant about religious hypocrisy. Every.single.thread. gets hijack by you and your ilk for yet.another.bloody.boring.repetitive rant about religious hypocrisy. With special nasty treatment for Christians, although the Muslims get it in the neck once in a while. And really special nasty treatment for Catholics. If an example helps, you're no better than posters who answer the wrong question or who hijack threads. If somebody started a thread to ask about good schools in VA, would you post a list of good schools in MD? No, that would be useless and unhelpful. If somebody started a thread asking whether to buy their kids goldfish versus guinea pigs, would you respond with a post about XBoxes? No, that too would be useless and unhelpful. HOW HARD IS THIS TO UNDERSTAND? Bear with me, because THIS IS KEY TO UNDERSTANDING WHY IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE A DISCUSSION ABOUT RELIGION ON DCUM. Lots of people besides me have asked this philosophical-for-DCUM question: Why are atheists constitutionally incapable of sticking to a thread subject, and instead they feel entitled to hijack every.single.bloody.thread to talk about religious, especially Christian, hypocrisy? PLEASE ANSWER THAT, IF YOU CAN. (Sorry for the bold, but it's so goshdarn hard to get you to address any given subject besides your pet rants, so I'm hoping the bolding will help you focus.)
OP, you write a troll post making a generalization about atheists and then get upset when atheists respond? I think you are the one incapable of a discussion. I don't think atheists are hypocrites. I don't think you know the meaning of the word hypocrite. Atheists call things as they see it. If they think a belief is ridiculous, they say so. There's no hypocrisy there. As for the "good without god," a person can be good and still describe another person as a fool. Just because an atheist calls you an ignorant fool doesn't make that atheist not good. But obviously you didn't understand when I made the distinction between words and actions.
