I think the show is following the borad outlines on the comic books more than people think. I think Judith is gone. She died at this very point in the comics. I don't think the show was looking as deeply into the unbuckled carseat as viewers are. Michonne's backstory was also addressed in the comics - the first two "pets" were her boyfriend/husband and another friend. I don't think the child was adressed. I think the older of those two girls - Lizzie/Mica - was responsible for the death at the prison, as well as the dead rats. In the comics, another child loses it and commits murder and I think the prison murders are a spin off from that. I also think Carol knew what happened and coered for the girl. Carol isn't a killer, she is a protector. As far as the premiere, I am really begining to like Carl. He is a child - only about 2 years have passed since the initial outbreak so at the most he is 11/12. He does dumb things because despite the fact he has to act like an adult and face very adult thing, he is still a kid. Also, re: the zombies. The comics address the slow, but apparent decomposition of the zombies and is turning more toward the post-outbreak rebuilding of society. I think we are seeing more of that on the show, as the zombies are clearly decomposing/slower/easier to kill.
