I wish someone would send a realistic christmas letter. "Well Jimmy is still drinking, the intervention we had in August failed. Larla failed her SATs so she will be attending community college next year, we can divert some of her college fund to other things...well what's left of it anyway since her father gambled away the rest on the trip to Vegas last April. Finally, we are happy to report that John will be granted parole at the beginning of the year, he has been on his best behavior these last years in prison. Happy New Year Everyone". Now, that's the kind of card that I will stick on my refrigerator.
I always say I think these types of cards would be awesome too. Last night we got one that said Grandson so-and-so was "taking a break" from school for a while. I love how people always call it "taking a break." LOL. PS On a related note, the same thing goes for updates in alumni magazines. I always said I wanted to write in an update, "Well, So-and-so (class of '95) just had their third IVF failure, and she and DH are trying to figure out now if they should even stay married, if this is a sign, if they should move to adoption, or what. DH doesn't want to adopt but so-and-so does, and this is a real humdinger for their marriage. Meanwhile they say they've had to pay out of pocket for all of this so that was like burning $$ up in flames, so that is a good time. And got nothing to show for it. Oh yeah, and so-and-so mentions that she has also gained 30 lbs since graduation, since she cannot stop eating to anesthetize herself from the results of the aforementioned failures."
