There is so much snark and misinformation in this thread it makes me laugh. And it does sound like a sit-com Op says that she is with her longtime friend when she wants to make an announcement. Everyone on DCUM assumes that OP is going to reveal her pregnancy. But things go off track when friend starts singing and talking a lot about a kid movie she liked. The OP wonders if her friend might have had too much to drink due to abrupt change in conversation. That flies over everyone’s head in their rush to say OP is crazy and clueless. No one on this board ever drinks? No one ever had the experience of finding out their friend had more to drink than they thought? No drinkers here? Ha ha. Also the OP does not speech English correctly according to DCUM because she says things like “lucky” instead of “loaded”. “Merry” instead of “drunk on her a**” After urging from DCUM, OP says, no the announcement is …..OMG….money related. The haters come out in full force. Note that the OP and friend have had many intimate discussions including finances and family. OP is celebrating a death – how else does anyone have money? OP then says they earned it (but gives no amount) and the vitriol goes up another notch. Now she is a c and a husband beater as well. Also a party crasher – although OP says the conversation took place in a restaurant. DCUMers look worse than OP in my opinion.
whoa, let's go back a notch. And I'll tell you why there's snark: OP is with longtime friend and wants to make an announcement - who makes an "announcement" about getting a chunk of money? How does that go exactly. "ting, ting, ting (fork clinking the wine glass) Excuse me everyone, Joe and I have an announcement. Ting, ting, ting...... quiet everyone, joe and I have an announcement. We are now wealthy. Yes, thank you, thank you. Yes, we've come into quite a bit of money." The OP wonders if her friend might have had too much to drink due to abrupt change in conversation. this doesn't go over everyone's heads. It's just not relevant. OP's very first question is "what to do when friend is very rude?" Just by her original question, SHE discounts that her friend drank too much and calls her rude. OP is celebrating a death – how else does anyone have money? OP then says they earned it (but gives no amount) and the vitriol goes up another notch. First of all, the OP said we "came into money" You don't "come into money by earning it. If you sold stock, you've always had the stock so you didn't come into it. Same with selling real estate. Getting a new job or bonus? Again - you don't say we "came into some money." That's where my snark came from. I don't believe she earned it because of her words. If you earned the money, you don't "announce it" and you don't "come into it" She had to back=peddle when she was called out on it which is why she changed her story and said she earned it.
