We are giving up a 5th grade spot at Janney, leaving for Latin
Wow! Could you explain why?
Yes, I feel like DCPS is teaching to the minimum academic level and not pushing for the maximum. They need to bring every child to the minimum so can't move past that. Homework is minimal and concepts don't seem to get hammered home in class. Then my child comes home after spending 7 hours in classes and the homework given is SO minimal. I know some parents think homework should be minimal, but from what I see its not enough for my child if the concepts are not engrained at school. I am being told she's doing great, not excelling, but that she's a very nice child and they are happy to have her. When I give her extra work at home, spending time after school, even doing work a grade above, she's capable. I want more for her during those 7 hours and 180 days, and Latin will hold her more accountable.
