Students "dress" for football game weekends. Girls will wear skirts and boys will wear khaki pants and collared shirts.
That always creeped me out as a NY native when I attended UGA for law school in my late 20s. It just doesn't seem right to dress up for a football game.
Good thing you didn’t go to UVA or UNC.
Uh oh. What do they do at UVA? Same thing, or worse? My kid will likely apply there. I expect he would be repulsed by the dressing up for football games too.
Repulsed? Seems a little extreme. Did you let him wear pajamas to school for years so now he thinks polo shirts are repulsive?
+100
Football games are supposed to be casual affairs. There is a time and place to get dressed up, but football games are not included. Getting dressed up at a football game strikes me as an attempt to signal that one is of a higher social status than the typical football fan. "Hey, look at me, I'm in a sorority or fraternity, and I'm showing off my status by wearing fancy clothes."
This is your opinion. Taking pride in appearance isn’t a bad thing. There’s a reason SEC girls are in a league of their own.
