If you're already in DC: 1) wait to move until you have 5th or 6th grade lottery results. If you get into DCI, BASIS, Latin, or Deal feeder, then move anywhere within the city you want where school commute is still workable for your kid 2) wait to move until you have 9th grade lottery results for application schools.
