Maybe this is something the mayoral candidates should address? https://www.bls.gov/opub/ted/2026/washington-dc-metropolitan-area-lost-103900-jobs-from-january-2025-to-january-2026.htm
How exactly is a mayor going to improve this? Be realistic
Is this a real question? How about by not being incredibly hostile to businesses? That would be a good place to start.
Mayors have such limited ability to deal with the macro issues that are impacting jobs. Being "less hostile" to business is going to have negligible impacts, if any.
Are you dumb or just insane?
Really don't think you know who the world works.
DC leads the country in job losses. If this was happening in any other city, it would be a five alarm fire.
It is a five alarm fire. But we have no control whatsoever (less than any state) over the politicians continually setting that fire.
Do politicians create jobs?
DOGE killed thousands of jobs. Keep up.
So, that's the only way to create jobs? We need the government to create an agency to employ people?'
When psychopaths come in and cancel needed jobs and those people leave the DMV and move to Europe to continue amazing research in curing diseases… yes we need NIH, to create jobs. We need grants. We needs federal funds. To cure diseases. Yes. Also many DOGE’d people are doing their exact job as a contractor but not living in the DMV anymore doing it remotely.
There are other ways to create jobs that don't rely on government to create those jobs. Government jobs don't grow your economy because those workers are paid with the salaries of private workers. Grants and funds are not bottomless pits of money without consequences. I swear the people on this board.
Diseases are not cured by “private workers”, new technology is not funded by good hearted billionaires. All these things require govt funding. I swear people on this board. May your child get a disease that would have been cured by DOGEd scientist…. But now won’t be.
Neuralink is going to be big.
