Jwando is a hard no from me. Friedson seems like the most moderate and common sense to me. I would like to know more about why people say he’s in developers pockets (other than just accusations, but I’d like to learn about that). Glass is a mystery to me. He seems like a nice guy, but really all I know about him is that he is a vegan and gay. He needs to do a better job messaging his positions. He does a great job promoting vegan restaurants and that he’s gay. Those are our only options and frankly none of those excite me. Elrich did a fantastic job at ruining the county and the county needs to redirect to dig itself out of this hole.
Agree on the vegan part, but can you elaborate on how he "promotes" that he is gay? Is it possible that he just happens to be gay and that is somehow all you see?
https://www.washingtonblade.com/2025/03/12/evan-glass-running-for-montgomery-county-executive/ https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/md-politics/gay-politician-pushed-for-pride-events-in-a-maryland-suburb--and-was-targeted-by-hate/2019/07/08/bbfda4d8-9def-11e9-b27f-ed2942f73d70_story.html https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/MDMONTGOMERY/bulletins/246cf2b https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/glass/about.html
So an LQBTQ publication chose to spotlight him. And there was press nearly a decade ago regarding a specific initiative he spearheaded. And it is a line in his bio. Of everything out there about him and all he has done, this doesn't qualify as promotion, and certainly not self-promotion of his sexuality.
This is first line of the second paragraph. “In 2018, Evan made history as the first openly gay man elected to the Montgomery County Council.” https://www.evanglass.com/ It’s prominent on his Instagram. Second line on his council about page “ He is the first openly LGBTQ+ individual to serve on the Council and in this role.” And don’t get me wrong. I don’t care that he’s gay but it is one of two things he’s known for. If he wants to win, then he needs people to see him like more than just the nice gay vegan.
