Stories like this make me glad I moved out of VA. This, and all the other crap that is going on there now. It’s not just this one case either. It is happening with great frequency.
I'm planning on moving. This state is so messed up they don't even try to hide the courrption and Insanity. Where do you call home now?
Tennessee. And it is wonderful!! Mountains close by. Lots of land. Great people.
Memphis has the highest per capital crime rate in the entire country. Alaska had the highest violent crime rate of any state in 2024, at 724.1 incidents per 100,000 residents, followed by New Mexico (717.1), Tennessee (592.3), Arkansas (579.4) and Louisiana (519.8). VA is 217.9...63% LESS than TN.
Yes, Memphis has a crime problem, and you can explore the reasons. Most places in TN are very safe.
So then why is TN as a whole the 3rd most dangerous state in the country? It’s not all due to Memphis.
It is primarily Memphis. Nashville has seen an uptick. Progressive policies have not helped but the national guard in Memphis made a difference. We will see what that does to crime stats in a few months.
No, it’s not primarily Memphis. Memphis is only 10% of the population…you don’t have the 3rd highest crime rate as a state due to one city that’s 10% of the population.
Shelby County is closer to one million people. It is possible for certain areas of an individual state to have much higher crime rates than one would expect for that given area.
Go it…but that’s still only 15% of the population and I would imagine there are safe suburbs of Memphis that are in Shelby county. Just maybe admit the facts smacking you in the face. TN is a far more dangerous state than VA…in fact more than 47 other states.
PP here. I'm not denying what you've said about the comparison between TN and VA. Just pointing out the obvious about Memphis and Shelby County.
