The war is costing us $1B per day. They got $45B from us last year. I got homless people sleeping in their cars at shopping centers in my neighborhood, 70yr olds working at Walmart, millions w/o health insurance. We could have had free Universal Healthcare like most developed countries by now. Common man. Really frustrating.
Why do you have homeless people sleeping in cars in your neighborhood. One salient FACT: it costs 17 billion dollars EVERY DAY to run the federal government. It has for the last few years. Where is the money going?
Social Security (22%), health services/Medicare (26%), and defense (13%)
Social security does not really add to the deficit. Benefit payments are funded entirely by employment taxes. The only portion that is funded by the government (not through payroll taxes) is the budget for the social security agency, which is 14.8 billion. That amounts to only $212 of administrative spending per beneficiary.
