I don't know when they started but in the years my kids have been in MCPS the many religious holidays have been days off but called something else like teacher development. [/quote] I’ve also works for mcps for 25 years and it is true. we used to have winter and spring break and 1-2 Jewish holidays in the fall. The stated reason for those days off was that the system could not run if every Jewish employee took the day off. We need to use that as the metric for deciding which days are off. It is insane to have every holiday (and Wednesday before thanksgiving) off, one snow day and be in school until late June.[/quote]
