What triggered this???
Speculating here, Skyview admin just came out. Cronin is going to Madison, probably to replace Fasick (who is leaving there to go to Skyview). Don't know why they had to do it mid year though. Reid knew that they would need APs for the new high school and they bought it before the 25/26 school year. A little foresight/good management would have staffed these positions without the disruption. But given that FCPS leadership has proven time and time again that they are incompetent it should not surprise anyone that they would make a reactionary move instead of a proactive one. Is she the worst Super that we have had in the county?
Nothing matters to Reid more than getting Skyview launched. Anecdotally, it doesn't sound like they got 1000 kids from the five pyramids (South Lakes, Oakton, Chantilly, Westfield, Centreville) to opt into Western for 2026-27, so they are probably trying to figure out what to do next - open with a smaller enrollment; extending the opt-in period; and/or opening up the school to students outside the five pyramids. The more they can do to make Skyview seem like a real school now, which includes publicizing hires in key positions, the more likely they can open on schedule.
She sure has a funny way of showing it. She should have set boundaries long ago. This uncertainty has kept people from opting in.
The more uncertainty about Skyview's boundaries, the less enthusiasm about Skyview's ability to function as a traditional high school and the bigger opportunity to hype the pathways programs that interest Reid and draw students from outside the assigned boundaries. It's an end-run around what the community wants and the School Board directed, but the School Board members are far too stupid to put their feet down.
