Fwiw, I liked Oxy. I slightly preferred the 5C consortium because you can access 5C's 6-8K students rather than Oxy's 2K students, but both had gorgeous campuses.

Oxy is more central to DTLA. Claremont is in between LA and IE. But the campus is vibrant.

ended up applying ED to CMC and getting accepted! Our tour to oxy really showed that the school was cliquish, struggling a bit, and had way less resources. The area was okay, but DC much preferred mount baldy and the Claremont village. There was a much bigger emphasis on social justice at oxy that DC couldn’t relate to.[/quote]

congrats and very smart play to apply as an integrated sciences major, cmc needs that desperately! too many athlete/econ majors so integrated sciences would make her stand out. pls report back on how that major worked out for her, since it's still new/experimental phase although the building itself is lovely.[/quote]
Our kid is working with an amazing biophysicist in the department and is using the supercomputer to do impactful research. Already presented at 4 conferences and has 2 papers as a junior. The school throws a ton of money at research, it just doesn’t tell all its students that the only thing in the world to do is a PhD like other liberal arts colleges (looking at you Pomona).[/quote]
