At our school they don't play, but it's not like they are sitting and doing computer games. For example, my kindergartener chose an animal and used the computer to do research and then wrote and illustrated a short essay about the animal -- with a sentence and picture about habitat, food, etc. [/quote]

I just wish those poor little 5 and 6 year olds got more play in their day, and this "extra" 30 minutes of FIT/WIN time would be a great time to do it since my understanding is that it's hard to fit into CKLA and Eureka. IMO they could use some pure free play, but I'm also fine with math-based or literacy-based play "centers"... there are lots of great ways for little kids to learn through play.  [/quote]

I totally agree. We have 25, I think, in K, with one para who, I think, is often pulled to cover other areas. When asked about incorporating centers, they said there's not enough room. [/quote]
