Are you willing to elaborate? We are looking at Auburn through MCPS right now bc it would be funded vs our other choice of springwell. Thanks for any info you’re willing to provide!
I'm not the poster from 10.2025 but we did leave Auburn in 2025. The teachers at Auburn were very kind but needed more support from administration. Auburn was often understaffed, which was surprising given the $ 44,000 annual tuition. It was a very traumatizing experience for our child who still has actual nightmares about their time there. I found the behavior support specialist and social learning specialist really difficult to work with. The social learning specialist was not professional and engaged in power struggles rather than figure out ways to build a relationship with our child. She couldn't accept that our child's behavior challenges were rooted in an anxiety response to the environment and her actions often resulted in escalation. Our child's situation and diagnosis is complex but I regret agreeing to send them to Auburn. We are in another school now and the difference has been night and day. The new school has been very intentional about building relationships, communicating thoughtfully and we feel better supported as a family.
Hi. Glad to hear things have improved for your child. Do you mind sharing the name of the new school?
We are at Sheppard Pratt Rockville campus.
Thank you!
