Painful 24hrs here so far. Glad it’s the weekend. Everyone in grade knew this was the dream so when it hit yesterday people were seeking DC out to ask. : (
You dodged a bullet. NYC is going from bad to worse soon, despite what the naive useful idiots are posting here.
No it is not. Shut up. NYU is a great school.
I have started to think that all the anti-Northeast schools and cities and pro-SEC schools and lifestyle are from people trying to eliminate competition.
Bingo. All the pro-SEC people each spring are the ones who were deferred or rejected from NE schools or UVA in state a few months before
Apparently you’ve never strolled around a beautiful SEC campus in February when it is 55 degrees.
and what about the 90+ degree, 90% humidity May to Sept?
You realize most students aren’t on campus from mid-May to late August? I went to SEC schools for both college and grad school. Humidity wasn’t an issue given the time of year I was there, and above all else, I appreciated the sunny, mild winters and the early springs!!
The very south is humid from Apr to Oct. Some people don't mind it, but we can't even stand DC area humidity. https://www.wunderground.com/history/monthly/us/al/tuscaloosa/KTCL/date/2025-4 Also, if the students aren't in the south for the summer that means that 1. they couldn't get internships at all or 2. they can only get internships elsewhere, which means jobs are elsewhere, which means, the south still pretty much sucks for jobs for those students.
We are in-state in the south and my DD will be paying $5K/year to attend the flagship, which is in the mountains and not particularly humid. I'm pretty psyched. I actually don't think getting a job is the main point of college, but I have zero concerns about that. Great university with tons of resources, great social scene, a few hours from home and great price tag. I went to a top DC private and the university that DCUM is most obsessed with, btw.
