The last VP to die who wasn't also a president was Walter Mondale in 2021, and he didn't have a state funeral because of the pandemic. Before that you have to go back to Agnew in 1996 (whose funeral was a low-key affair) and then Rockefeller in 1979. So maybe presidents are not expected to attend the funeral of VPs other than their own.[/quote]
