Discovery School is growing food and helping feed those in need. APS is helping feed those in need. Core instruction in being a moral and decent human.
Please stop with the virtue signaling. I remember when everyone was supposed to donate one apple or similar at Discovery for AFAC. A huge deal was made of this. It’s simply for optics and to make everyone feel good about themselves. The PTA and other PTAs nearby are drawing more money than you know what to do with. Meanwhile, at other APS schools half the schools families supply Thanksgiving meals, winter clothing and school supplies for the other half of the school, every year, and the needs and numbers are increasing. There is very little money in the PTAs. Please don’t pat yourself on the back for growing a few vegetables at Discovery. If you are not partnering with a less wealthy APS school and sending a portion of your PTA funds to them you have nothing to brag about. It’s those less wealthy schools’ families and teachers that are doing all the heavy lifting to meet the needs of a very large portion of the student population in Arlington.
