It is not possible for most high school sports and high commitment activities like marching band and the school musicals

and it is not just a problem for practices

Many sports and performances don't end until after 10PM.  The teachers, directors and coaches often are there until almost 11PM.

Would you like the high schoolers to finish after 11PM and their coaches and directors at school until midnight?

Changing the schedule to appease the new 7th grade parents (because really, those are the only people complaining about early start times) is one of the stupidest ideas this school board ever came up with in their sea of stupid ideas. [/quote]

MS know they will be out of school before this is implemented. They are not ones complaining and not ones wanting change. Stop blaming MS parents and look to School Board who have taken more than 10 years on an initiative and continue to flail on it.[/quote]

When I say only new 7th grader parents are complaining, I literally mean new (1st born child) 7th grade parents who complain each new school year about the early start time.

It goes away after a couple of weeks, except for the kids who are up all night on their phones and can't wake up.  30 minutes later or 2 hours later or the exact same time won't make a difference for those kids, because they are up all night on their phones.

Next year, the cycle will repeat with new 7th grade parents.

It is such a stupid, disruptive change to make for a few weeks of middle school angst each fall from a handful of parents
