What’s “my” problem, op?  You are.

- you constantly throw Jeff’s rules back in his face by posting your political threads in Off Topic, even though you know better and have had your threads moved or deleted,

- you are trying to cause racial animosity for your political reasons (see first point), but worse

- even though you are white, you’re intentionally trying to intimidate and frighten BIPOC people (it hasn’t been “minorities” in decades BTW), and one might even say: put them in terror,

- what might we call someone (someone like you) who seeks to achieve their political goals by spreading terror?  (racial terror in this case):  a terrorist.  That’s you.

Disagree. There are plenty of groups that have legitimate reasons and a whole lot of historical evidence to feel targeted. The entire international community in this area is stressed out. Since I'm on the wealthy, educated and/or diplomat end of that community, I can speak for them: we all have access to company lawyers or can pay for our own; we are all "legal" here, until ICE decides that we are not; but that still doesn't protect us from arrests and unfair consequences.

Two examples from my own knowledge:

1. A few months ago, two World Bank employees had their diplomatic visas confiscated when they were trying to return to the US after a business trip, which meant they were stuck at the border. Their kids go to Walter Johnson HS in North Bethesda. They had homes and pets and everything here. Can you imagine the stress, even though it all got sorted out in a few weeks? What are the kids supposed to do, huh? Neither employee had any immigration or criminal issues. It's just that their country of origin had displeased the Trump administration the week prior.

2. Dozens of Korean workers detained at the Hyundai plant in Georgia were actually legally allowed to be there, with the appropriate work visa, and were legally allowed to conduct business meetings and work trainings. They were not immigrants, but were specialized employees who had been sent to train workers and then return to Korea. Yet when they were arrested, American law enforcement announced at their press conference that everyone they had arrested were illegal immigrants. THEY WERE NOT RELEASED, even though they were arrested in error. The Korean foreign minister had to come in person to the US to bring everyone back by charter plan at Korea's cost. And when you are deported, it is very, very unlikely that you are ever allowed on US soil ever again. So these are middle-class educated people like you or me who might have wanted to enjoy a US vacation or visit relatives in the US but cannot come here ever again. And they spent several very uncomfortable, scary days in jail for no good reason. Korea has been in upheaval ever since.

The USA is really making enemies of their ertwhile allies, and that's very bad for its geopolitical strategy, which in turn and in the long-run, will impact its economic influence and the wellbeing of its citizens.

If any country treated you in this way you would be in a state of shock, PP. This is not how a civilized nation treats others. And if you saw people around you being randomly treated this way, knowing your turn might be next, you'd live with a certain amount of fear.

Do not minimize the fear that people feel. It is very real.
