Agree. This is an issue at multiple MCPS schools. Admin has its hands tied as to what kind of punishment they can utilize. Restorative Justice often doesn’t cut it.

Kids learn early on in MCPS that they can get away with all sorts of terrible anti-social behavior because they never face negative consequences for said behavior. It’s a horrible environment for both students and teachers.[/quote]

If that’s true, the student is likely a special education student. There are different rules for removing a student from school for more than 10 days if they have an IEP. I don’t think it’s right, but I have a strong hunch that’s what is driving the 10 days[/quote]
