DS is on both his school XC team and a club team (for XC plus indoor/outdoor track). Since he’s still in middle school, it works out fine for now. Almost all of his middle school meets have both schools and club teams (including his). Once he gets to HS I know it will be different, but there are absolutely options for club level uXC in HS.
Which clubs are options for high schoolers? All of people are interested. Share please!
We aren't in the DMV, so probably not much of a help! But where we are once you are in high school you can't do both DURING the season, however the high school XC, indoor and outdoor track seasons are much shorter than the club seasons, so many kids switch the day it's over. If you choose to do club only you run in the meets that allow clubs and/or open and aren't necessarily sponsored by the school athletic associations. One thing about running is that you time is your time, regardless of where it was run (exception being a big XC meet on a challenging course showing how you navigate that type of environment). But if you are running on a track, you can do your think almost anywhere.
