How would the National Guard have prevented this, OP?
Not OP but if National Guard was on that train I guarantee this would never have happened.
That seems unlikely. It happened pretty fast. Even if there was someone in the same train car it is unlikely they could have stopped it in time.
I disagree. Have seen security personnel and policemen take down (pull to the ground) in seconds men who are acting strangely and uncooperatively around Atlanta's downtown and GA Tech areas.
It would have taken more than a few seconds to simply get to the man, even if they were in the same car. And they probably wouldn't have been. There are situations where trained police could help, but this wasn't one of them. There aren't a lot of situations where untrained national guard can help.
I still disagree. His agitated movements and demeanor indicated he wasn't okay mentally.and a trained eye would have noticed and a security person could have moved closer to him. On a daily basis, our church feeds hundreds of homeless men who wouldn't hurt anyone. Some individuals just stand out.
You don't seem to spend a lot of time on public transit.
I do. I live in Atlanta and ride Marta often.
