Where Hardy 8th grade students went in 9th: SY23-24 to SY24-25: 21 to MA 78 to JR SY22-23 to SY23-24: 55 to MA 55 to JR SY21-22 to SY22-23: 94 to JR SY20-21 to SY21-22: 97 to JR SY19-20 to SY20-21: 86 to JR https://edscape.dc.gov/page/student-enrollment-pathways I think it's unlikely Hardy will ever send more than about 100 to MacArthur given how many they used to send to Jackson-Reed. If it's really 90 this year, that's actually pretty impressive retention.
This is worthless unless you know how many kids are in the class each year which BTW has increased in size significantly. You need to look at percentages and if that 90 is correct, only about 50% kids continued on which is not high.
Students enrolled in 8th grade (% to IB HS) SY19-20: 141 (61%) SY20-21: 156 (62%) SY21-22: 163 (58%) SY22-23: 186 (59%) - MA opens SY23-24: 177 (56%) SY24-25: 187 90 would be 48% of the 8th grade class. Still pretty good for a new school, especially if students with older siblings at JR still have rights to JR. With the bigger class sizes let's say 110 is likely max on students coming from Hardy. If the MacArthur freshman classes remain around 190, the school is always going to be 40%+ OOB. For comparison, JR was 39% OOB in SY24-25.
