Students with medical conditions that would merit to need access to their phone at all times would typically be under a 504 Plan. Teachers are familiar with who they are, including subs, because they are a part of the team that will assist the student in case of an emergency, and also will provide the accommodations in the 504 Plan, such as access to a phone, if stipulated. Good point! Considering this possibility, it’s imperative that students with medical conditions that may require staff’s attention and assistance be flagged for medical reasons in order to set in motion the Emergency Plan as described in the IHCP.

Basically, being "flagged for medical reasons" at FCPS means the school is aware of a student's health needs and is taking steps to ensure they are supported and able to access their education effectively and safely.  [/quote]
