Go, Ducks! It rains here and is gray for a long stretch from fall through early spring. Not much snow. Last winter wasn’t so bad but the magic of summertime is not matched weather-wise by the rest of the year!
Fellow Duck here ('97) and living in Old Town since 2005. The rain doesn't even start until November and is mostly gone by May. Dec- Feb produced a lot of snow the years I was there and Eugene is magical in a blanket of white. I get it isn't for everyone but the whole "PNW will make you eat a bullet" is total BS. I'd kill someone for a Tempeh sandwich with carrot relish from New Day Bakery right now.
I lived in Eugene for the 1990s (all of it) and never once tried the hummus or Tempeh or anything hippie. Never went to the Oregon Country Fair, but got invited. I don't regret it. I don't like hummus. Had more than one person there ask me if I was a Republican because I took regular showers, styled my hair, and didn't slather on patchouli, lol. I was a student, and then a townie while my spouse finished grad school. The last time I visited Eugene, it felt so different. More high-end branding, more gentrification. Still miss that hole-in-the-wall Burrito Boy taqueria. They had great chicken tacos.
