I don't get this. In Europe no one is wearing swim shirts. Seems the typical American Prude.
Oh my, those Europeans are so enlightened and sophisticated!
It’s true. Not sure why you are trying to be snarky or funny or something here.
Why do you think avoiding skin damage and cancer has anything to do with being prudish?
DP. I have fair skin and do wear a a long sleeve shirt at the beach or if I go to the pool in the middle of the day (not always a swim shirt, depends on if I plan to go in the water and for how long). But otherwise I don't. If I go to the pool at 4pm I just wear sunscreen. I don't like how sun shirts feel and I'd rather time my pool visit to a time when the sun is less dangerous than swim in one. I am thinking about getting a rash guard one piece to see if that feels any better. But I'm worried I'll buy it, discover I hate how it feels when wet, and then never wear it. Whereas my current strategy of just wearing a cover up over my swimsuit and then slathering on sunscreen for the 15 minutes I plan to be in the water before covering up again is very adaptable to the situation.
