There are tons of little kids in my block and they’re outside playing all the time. One tiny little girl who couldn’t have been older than 6 rang my doorbell the other day to hand out flyers for a 4th of July block party. She was completely by herself carrying a clipboard, crossing off a list of house numbers as she went. It was adorable.

I don’t know what these neighbors’ politics are—although I’m pretty sure one of the families with little kids has two moms, so that could be a clue—but regardless, I will probably stop by the block party to meet my neighbors who I otherwise just drive past almost every day. (My kids are older teens and these neighbors only recently moved in.)

All this to say, there are still decent people out here who just want to get to know and spend time with other decent people. [/quote]
