I bet that you are absorbing a lot of the awkwardness for your DH. You're a social buffer for how NOT great this is for everyone else. So send your DH and kids WITHOUT you. The first time I did this my DH had on ok time. The next time he came home and was full of complaints about his parents. YES I KNOW BUDDY. Now, I still do see them here and there, so it's not that I am icing them out completely. But I was basically running around doing the child care and trying to grease the wheel with his parents while he just...sat around chatting with them. It sucked. So I stopped. I go on about 1 out of 4-6 visits and that is plenty.[/quote]
