Anyone has the directive memo from ECNL to refs and coaches demanding aggressive play?
Happens after every ECNL event when coaches complain that the refs were calling to many things and because of this they would like that ref removed from the rotation. Put another way coaches cant win without overly physical play so please remove the ref that keeps calling them on it.
So you’re saying that ECNL coaches from around the country call the local assigner after an event? Or the coaches from around the country call the league and then the league calls the assigner?
The role is called League Director and Tournament Director and yes coaches, docs, club owners, and even parents contact them complaining about refs all the time. Its the League/Tournament directors job to defend the refs but what do you think happens when the club owner that is sponsoring the tournament (and therefore paying the tournament director) complains about a ref calling too much?
When does the change in Referee calls happen? Next year‘s North Carolina event or is the feedback from all of these people then given to the referees for the California event and then the California event is Refereed accordingly with that feedback? I did not realize that parents were calling the ECNL office about referees in North Carolina. Thank you for all of the information. This is very helpful.
Feedback happens during the event. Nobody cares after. It can also happen before events.
