Advice from someone who had a breakin over night while at home with small children (now some years ago): You can buy over the counter security systems - I don't remember the name because we have ADT but they're fairly commonplace and available at Best Buy etc. Good lighting is also a deterrent. We also NEVER leave any door unlocked, all first floor windows are alarmed, always double check cars at night. If it's just a matter of keeping weirdos out of your yard, you can buy no-dig fencing that is not permanent at a big box store, stick in front of the arborvitae and it might just be enough to persuade him to go to someone else's yard: https://www.lowes.com/pd/No-Dig-Actual-3-8-ft-x-4-7-ft-Grand-Empire-XL-Black-Steel-Pressed-Point-Decorative-Metal-Fence-Panel/1000864882 Police told us the best defense is a dog.
LMAO. Defund those police.
I had a friend who was a longtime criminal defense lawyer with PDS, and he also said that, based on his client's information, dogs are the best deterrent. They are unpredictable and at least career criminals like predictability. Unclear whether the random person camping in your yard thinks the same way.
Beyond dumb suggestion. Poison food given to dog. No more dog. Axe or shoot the dog, no more dog. Also most people simply are not frightened by a single dog. Now 10-20 wolves, rotweillers over 100lbs, etc. sure, that's dangerous. One dog, nope.
You think criminals carry around poison in their pockets to give to dogs?
You think someone planning a break in or to do someone harm doesn't case a place out? First thing they do is plan a way to take out the dogs, alarms, lights, etc. You CANNOT possibly be that clueless. Just wanting attention trolling huh?
NP. You actually sound clueless and really dumb. Most criminals don't have a specific target, especially for stuff like home invasion and theft. They case out a street or neighborhood not target a specific person or house. They're not planning on taking out alarms and dogs and lights, they're looking for the easiest place they can rob. Absolutely they'd rather go to the home that appears unoccupied vs a home with lights on and a barking dog. The dog is solid advice.
Why does everyone assume he wants to rob OP? He’s probably getting his kicks peeping on her and her kids. There might be video too.
