They changed the rules when I was a student to finally allow a few school sanctioned dancing and let students dance off-campus. In certain circles of American Protestantism throughout the early and middle 20th century dancing was considered suggestive. Mind you none of this is in the Bible, in any major doctrinal standard of any church, or anything like that. I don't know if any churches outside of America have ever had a similar bad view of dancing. But the idea of dancing being un-Christian was a thing for a while here. It's really not any more outside of very niche circles.[/quote]
