I know, I know, a family plan is much cheaper but we didn't want to be enmeshed. When kids went to college, they got their own plan. We paid their bill while they were in college. Yes, I know it was more expensive but that was ok.
What about having a family phone plan is "enmeshed"? I don't look at my kid's phone calls/texts/etc. I just pay the bill. Why pay more? Hint: one kid is out of college and a fully functioning adult. Even if their cell phone is still on our "family plan"
I'm 40, married with 2 kids and still on my parents plan.
Omg
My kids are free to stay on our plan as long as they wish. It is much cheaper to add people to our plan (their SO if desired) than for our kids to get their own plan. So just like we added users to Netflix and other streaming apps because that's cheaper than them getting their own, we will keep cell phones combined. Right now it saves about $30-35/month having them each on our plan. Why would I make them pay $350-400 more per year for the same thing? If you want, feel free to charge them their portion monthly (or yearly), but why make them pay more?
