It’s challenging to explain but there is bad Yankee (Emory) and good yankee (Yale).  Duke is in the bad yankee category. If you’re a well to do southerner you’d be a little embarrassed to tell people your child attended duke. [/quote]

18% of all Emory students come from GA, followed by NY at 11%.

40% come from GA, FL, NC, TX, SC and TN.

Seems like plenty of southerners attend Emory.  Tulane as an example has only 25% of kids coming from the south plus Texas with NY its largest state feeder at 12%.
