I grew up in South Asian country. Although it was acceptable pre-70's for boomers, I don't know anyone in generation X who married someone with 10+ year age unless they had no other options and wanted marriage and financial security. Most of us married men our own age or within 1-5 year older than us..
Hence divorce rates that were 5% for Greatest Gen/Silent Gen, 10% for Boomers, and now exploded to 50% for Gen X and 65% for millenials/zoomers. Women are doing it to themselves, marrying men their age or younger is against Nature and a recipe for them to become single before their 50s or even 40s when the men trade them in for a younger model.
My parents were greatest generation and were within 2 years of each other. Most of that generation married young with women marrying around 19 and men at 21. This idea that it was common to marry much older isn’t based in any fact.
